Bahia welcome Mirassol to the Arena Fonte Nova on 11 October 2026 for a Série A Round 30 fixture with sharply different stakes for each side. Sitting sixth with 46 points from 29 games and a goal difference of plus seven, Bahia are still in contention for a Copa Libertadores berth, whereas Mirassol, 15th on 33 points with a goal difference of minus nine, face an increasingly nervous fight to stay clear of the drop.
Bahia's last five league outings read loss, win, win, win, loss. The most recent was a narrow 0-1 defeat away to Palmeiras on 8 October, before that they overcame Remo 2-1 on 14 September and edged Bragantino 3-2 on 5 September. Mirassol's sequence reads draw, win, draw, win, loss, including a 1-1 at Bragantino on 7 October and a 2-0 win over Botafogo on 21 September and they have managed just one win in their last five away matches.

Rogério Ceni and Rafael Guanaes meet in the dugout for the first time, with both squads carrying absences. Bahia are without Nicolás Acevedo, suspended through yellow card accumulation, forcing Caio Alexandre into the midfield pivot, while Léo Vieira remains out with a long term knee injury. Mirassol are short handed: Negueba is out with knee ligament damage and José Aldo misses the trip with a muscle problem.
Ceni has built a possession oriented side and losing Acevedo is a real blow because he typically wins the ball back before Bahia's shape breaks down, giving Alexandre the clean platform he needs. Alexandre is a more measured passer but less aggressive in the press, so the home side may find early transitions slightly sluggish. Jean Lucas still dictates tempo from deeper, while up front the game revolves around Luciano Juba, who has a strong home scoring record cutting inside from the left, Cristian Olivera and Alejo Véliz holding up play for the wide men to arrive. Guanaes, who took charge in March 2025, favours a compact 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 built on counter attacking transitions and without Negueba and Aldo able to press high for any sustained period, Mirassol will look to target the spaces Bahia's advancing full backs leave behind. Eduardo is their main goal threat with around six for the season, with Bruno Santos providing support, Reinaldo anchors the back and Igor Formiga covers the right defensive channel.
The contest between Jean Lucas and Eduardo may well shape the outcome. If Bahia dominate possession in central areas, Juba and Olivera will get into positions to exploit a retreating Mirassol block, whereas if Eduardo gets on the ball with space in front of him, Véliz may end up isolated against a packed defence with little to feed off.
The three previous Série A meetings have produced one win apiece and a draw: Mirassol beat Bahia 5-1 on 31 August 2025, Bahia won 2-1 at Mirassol on 11 April 2026 and the sides drew 1-1 on 13 April 2025.

Set pieces have been a consistent threat under Ceni, with Juba and Véliz both mobile and well positioned at dead balls. Bahia have won three of their last four home league games and with José Aldo absent, Mirassol's defensive structure at set pieces looks considerably more porous than usual.
Bahia should win this 2-1 and even with Acevedo suspended Alexandre is capable enough in the midfield pivot to keep the home side functioning. Juba, Olivera and Véliz have the quality to unpick a compact shape over 90 minutes, Eduardo will cause problems on the counter and Guanaes's side have enough structure to stay in this but with Bahia desperate for points in the Libertadores race and Mirassol's away form as poor as it is, Eduardo's best hope may simply be exploiting whatever space Bahia leave behind when chasing a third goal.
