ELO head-to-head

How West Bromwich Albion and Millwall compare on rating, form and history.

West Brom sit sixth in the Championship ahead of their Gameweek 15 clash with Millwall at The Hawthorns on 7 November 2026, the final domestic outing before the international break. James Morrison's side have 25 points from 14 matches and a goal difference of plus five. Millwall arrive 13th with 18 points and a goal difference of minus one, managed by Alex Neil since he replaced Neil Harris on 30 December 2024. Both sides line up in a 4-2-3-1 shape, though the form separating them is not especially close.

Morrison only took permanent charge on 30 April 2026 after replacing Eric Ramsay, making this still relatively early territory for him against a manager who has been learning the Championship since late 2024. Neil knows this level well, having accumulated nearly two years at the club and while both coaches favour similar structures, that is roughly where the comparison stops being useful.

West Brom arrive on the back of five unbeaten games, the most recent a 1-1 draw at Southampton on 3 November following a convincing 3-1 home win over West Ham on 31 October. Earlier in the run they drew 1-1 at Preston, won 3-2 at Blackburn and beat Wrexham 2-1 at The Hawthorns.

Millwall have taken one win from their last five, losing three and drawing one: a 0-3 defeat at Birmingham on 3 November, a 4-1 home win over Derby on 31 October, a 1-2 loss at Portsmouth, a 2-2 draw at Lincoln and a 0-1 defeat at Swansea. The Lions have looked particularly vulnerable away from home, with opposition sides consistently finding space in behind their defensive line.

West Brom are managing several absences. George Campbell is a doubt with a groin problem, Toby Collyer is out with a hamstring injury, Nolan Galves remains unavailable after an ACL injury and Mikey Johnston is sidelined with a leg complaint. Morrison will lean heavily on Isaac Price in midfield and on Morgan up front, already on seven goals this season, while Chris Mepham is expected to start at centre back.

Millwall's injury situation is worse, particularly at right back. Tristan Crama is out with an ankle problem, Ryan Leonard has a hamstring injury and Lukas Jensen and Casper De Norre are both sidelined with muscle or ankle issues. Jake Cooper will have to anchor the defence without his usual full back cover, while Luke Cundle carries extra creative responsibility in midfield.

Morrison's West Brom have been building their game around Price, who operates between the lines and feeds Morgan inside the box. The 4-2-3-1 gives the wide players room while the double pivot protects the back line and at The Hawthorns that structure has been working well. Without Crama and Leonard at right back, whoever fills in for Millwall on that side will be exposed to West Brom's left side combination play and Cooper will end up covering more ground than he would like. That is exactly the kind of space Price tends to exploit.

The midfield battle between Price and Cundle is the most interesting subplot here, with Morgan's aerial duel with Cooper worth watching alongside it, particularly given Cooper won't have full backs nearby to offer extra cover. If Millwall can't rotate their defensive shape because of the injury list, those gaps will compound as the game stretches.

This fixture has historically been tight, with Millwall leading the last 15 meetings five wins to West Brom's two and eight draws in between, the last two encounters were a 0-0 in April 2026 and a 3-0 Millwall win in October 2025. Millwall's defensive absences, though, make a cagey replay less likely than those numbers suggest.

Millwall's set piece delivery has been a strength this season and Cooper's aerial ability makes him their primary threat from dead balls. Mepham is expected to serve as West Brom's aerial anchor against him. West Brom need a win to maintain pressure on the top six going into the break, while Millwall need something to stop a slide that has left them well outside the play off places and looking over their shoulder rather than up the table.

West Brom 2-1 Millwall. Morrison's side are at home, five games unbeaten and with Morgan in the kind of form that a Millwall defence already missing two right backs is not well equipped to handle.
