Ligue 1 leaders Monaco host mid-table Toulouse on 10 October 2026. Our detailed tactical preview and 2-0 score prediction.

ELO head-to-head

How Monaco and Toulouse compare on rating, form and history.

Monaco sit top of Ligue 1 after five matchdays with 13 points, welcoming Toulouse to the Stade Louis II on 10 October 2026 for Matchday 6. Toulouse are 13th on five points and have conceded in every outing this season, so the real question is whether they can stop conceding early rather than handing Monaco the game before half time.

Filipe Luís took charge of Monaco on 6 July 2026, replacing Sébastien Pocognoli, while Jens Berthel Askou was appointed Toulouse head coach on 21 May 2026 after Carles Martínez Novell departed. The two managers have not faced each other before.

Monaco's last five reads W W W D W, most recently a 2-1 win over Lens before the international break. Toulouse's form of L D L D W tells a more erratic story and their 3-2 win over Le Havre at least shows they can score, though Monaco at home tend not to give much away.

Monaco will be without Paris Brunner through suspension, with Aleksandr Golovin doubtful due to a leg injury, creating a real gap in attack and midfield creativity that will likely see Filipe Luís push Balogun into more central responsibility and shift one of the wide attackers inside. Toulouse have Rasmus Nicolaisen doubtful with a calf problem, bad news for a defence that has conceded in every match this season.

Monaco operate in a 4-2-3-1 with Folarin Balogun leading the line and Lamine Camara driving things from central midfield, while Vanderson pushes high on the right and has the legs to beat his man. Without Brunner, Balogun carries more of the attacking weight, though nothing in his recent form suggests he will struggle with that.

Toulouse also line up in a 4-2-3-1, with Casper Tengstedt leading their attack on three goals in five games, including a recent brace. Thomas Jorgensen and Cristian Casseres Jr. anchor midfield, though without Nicolaisen they leave Monaco's forwards with a more direct route to goal than Toulouse would want.

What happens between Balogun and Toulouse's central defenders will define the game, if Monaco can get him running in behind early, Toulouse will struggle to organise. Camara against Casseres Jr. will likely determine midfield control, while Vanderson's overlapping runs will force Toulouse's left back to decide whether to track him or hold shape. Tengstedt's movement could conjure a counter chance if Toulouse win the ball high up the pitch but that's a narrow hope against Monaco.

Monaco have won 14 of 29 meetings against Toulouse since 2008, with Toulouse claiming five and ten ending in draws and the last meeting in April 2026 finished 2-2.

Without Golovin, Monaco's set piece delivery becomes more important and Toulouse have been leaking from those situations this season, which is a problem when facing a side that knows how to exploit them.

Monaco have conceded once in five games, Toulouse have conceded in all five. The gap is structural, not just form. A Tengstedt counter is possible but Toulouse's inability to keep clean sheets makes a Monaco shutout look realistic. Monaco 2-0 Toulouse.
