Detailed tactical preview and 1-2 score prediction for ADO Den Haag vs Sparta Rotterdam in Eredivisie Round 12 on 7 November 2026.

How ADO Den Haag and Sparta Rotterdam compare on rating, form and history.

Levi Schwiebbe takes charge of ADO Den Haag for the first time when Sparta Rotterdam visit the Cars Jeans Stadion on 7 November 2026, a Round 12 Eredivisie fixture that pits a side fighting to stay up against one that has the points to be comfortable but rarely looks it.

Schwiebbe replaced Robin Peter, who had been in post since July 2025, on 2 November, making this genuinely his first match in the role. Rogier Meijer has had longer to settle in at Sparta, taking over from Maurice Steijn on 1 July 2026, though the results have been mixed at best. With no meaningful head to head record between the two coaches, it comes down to how well Schwiebbe can adapt Peter's 4-3-3 and how much Meijer trusts his 5-4-1 to do the same job it has done inconsistently all season.

ADO arrive in poor shape: six points from eleven league games and a last five sequence of L-L-L-W-D. That includes a 0-1 defeat at PEC Zwolle on 1 November, a penalty exit to Excelsior '31 on 27 October after a 1-1 draw, a 2-3 home loss to Heerenveen on 24 October, a 2-1 win over PSV on 17 October and a 2-2 draw with Telstar on 11 October. Sparta sit somewhere between 11th and 14th with twelve points and a W-L-L-W-D run of their own: a 3-2 win at Groningen on 1 November, a penalty exit to Fortuna Sittard after a 2-2 draw, a 1-2 defeat at Ajax on 25 October, a 3-2 home win against Willem II on 17 October and a 3-3 draw with Go Ahead Eagles on 10 October. Neither side is exactly in form but Sparta at least look like they can score.

ADO are without Luka Reischl, ruled out with a groin injury, while Alejandro Pozo remains a doubt, leaving Schwiebbe two attacking options short at the worst possible time. At Sparta, Jens Toornstra is doubtful after being withdrawn during the win at Groningen and his absence strips the midfield of its most experienced presence. Bruno Martins Indi is expected to anchor the back line but losing Toornstra forces Meijer to rethink his central midfield balance.

ADO's 4-3-3 is built around organisation and counter attacks, a practical approach for a side that came up from the second tier. Nigel Thomas and Yannick Eduardo are the main attacking outlets without Reischl, with Juho Kilo and Matej Sin feeding them from midfield. If Pozo is also missing, Schwiebbe may need to narrow his shape, which would invite Sparta's wing backs to push forward and stretch ADO's back four.

Sparta's 5-4-1 is designed to absorb and hit back. Milan Zonneveld, who has around seven goals already this season, leads the line, with Isaac Babadi supplying most of the creativity from attacking midfield. Without Toornstra, that midfield loses range and Meijer will need Martins Indi to cover the gaps Toornstra would normally block while the press does its work higher up. The clearest individual battle is Thomas against Martins Indi in the air, though how much it matters depends on whether Kilo and Sin can disrupt Sparta before they settle.

The absences limit what both sides can do. ADO's thinly stretched attack is unlikely to pin Sparta back for long periods, leaving Kilo and Sin to launch quick breaks instead. Sparta without Toornstra's passing range might rely more on direct balls to Zonneveld or quick switches designed to get in behind ADO's back four. Schwiebbe needs to get his side organised fast, while Meijer needs his team to do what they haven't managed in four of their last five: see a lead out.

Sparta hold the historical advantage with around eleven wins to ADO's six across twenty two meetings, plus five draws. This is the first Eredivisie meeting between the sides in five years, with recent encounters largely limited to cup ties. ADO's last win came in the KNVB Cup in December 2023, a 2-0 result.

Delivery from Kilo or Sin will be critical for Eduardo at dead ball situations without Reischl and the wing backs pushing high can leave gaps that ADO might exploit on the break. ADO beat PSV at home in October but have lost both league games since, while Sparta's 3-2 win at Groningen last Saturday offers some momentum, though their last five suggests that rarely carries over.

ADO Den Haag 1-2 Sparta Rotterdam. The squad is stretched, the manager is brand new and ADO have conceded in every game during their L-L-L run with no obvious reason that changes here. Sparta are inconsistent but Zonneveld and Babadi should find space as ADO chase the game and gaps open for a counter. ADO showed against PSV that they can threaten on the break, so a goal back is realistic but Sparta win once from open play and once from a set piece, with ADO replying through a quick break involving Thomas and Eduardo.
