Telstar vs Feyenoord Prediction: Can Van Bronckhorst's Side Extend Their Perfect Start?

Feyenoord travel to Telstar as Eredivisie leaders looking to maintain their unbeaten run while Telstar fight to climb out of the lower reaches of the table.

How Telstar and Feyenoord compare on rating, form and history.

Matchday 9 of the Eredivisie brings together two clubs at opposite ends of the table on 17 October 2026. Telstar sit 15th with six points from eight matches while Feyenoord lead the standings with 20 points and a goal difference of +20, still unbeaten and intent on staying that way.

Telstar's last five league games have produced three draws and two losses, their most recent a 2-2 against ADO Den Haag. Three draws and two defeats is a profile that tells you something precise: they are compact enough to avoid getting picked apart but have not found a way to win and a side without a victory in eight attempts is unlikely to suddenly locate its cutting edge against the Eredivisie leaders. Feyenoord's run looks rather different, winning four straight including a clean sheet 2-0 over AZ Alkmaar on 10 October 2026 that extended their unbeaten league start.

Neither side reports any significant absences. Henk Brugge, appointed in May 2026 to replace Anthony Correia, names a full squad and Feyenoord go in with everyone available at Giovanni van Bronckhorst's disposal after he took charge in June 2026 following Robin van Persie's departure.

Telstar's game plan has been built around staying compact and hitting on the counter and their low scoring profile reflects that priority, with Rui Mendes as the reference point up front and Marvin Peersman and Abdelnour Soualhia anchoring the defensive shape. Sustaining that compactness for 90 minutes against a team that has scored 27 goals in eight league games is a different proposition, though. Feyenoord press high and retain the ball well and Gjivai Zechiel, Anis Hadj Moussa and Nacho Ferri each have five league goals with Luciano Valente just behind on four. Telstar need to stay disciplined on the transition, because a momentary lapse against attackers this mobile tends to get punished quickly.

The midfield battle may decide how painful this gets for Telstar. If they can disrupt Feyenoord's rhythm and force turnovers in good areas, Mendes has the pace and directness to threaten on the break. If Feyenoord get on top of the ball quickly, though, Telstar will spend long stretches pinned in their own half with little scope to respond.

Feyenoord have won the last two meetings between these clubs, both 2-1, on 30 November 2025 and 22 February 2026. Neither was a commanding victory but they found a way each time against a side set up to deny them space and that is the situation they are walking into again.

Telstar's winless run has visibly narrowed their game plan. They have drifted toward the clean sheet first as each week without a win has passed, a drift reflected in their low scoring recent draws. Feyenoord are carrying a Champions League schedule alongside the Eredivisie, though their squad depth means the extra workload has not thinned their options in any obvious way.

Telstar 1-2 Feyenoord. Telstar should get a goal, most likely on the counter or from a dead ball but Feyenoord have too many ways to score for a single goal to be enough.
