Amedspor host Besiktas on 20 September 2026 in one of the more compelling early fixtures in the Süper Lig, with both clubs sitting inside the European places: Amedspor third on ten points from five matches, Besiktas second on twelve. Neither can afford to concede ground at this stage. The promoted side have done well, putting five past Başakşehir and beating Trabzonspor in results that few predicted when the season started.
There is no head to head data between the two coaches to lean on, since Besnik Hasi only took charge of Amedspor in June 2026 after interim coach Sertaç Küçükbayrak was replaced and Italiano arrived at Besiktas the same month to succeed Sergen Yalçın. The two have never met competitively before, so 20 September will be the first time their approaches are tested against each other.

Amedspor arrive in solid domestic shape with a W-D-W-L-W record across their last five, a run that includes a 5-0 home win over Istanbul Başakşehir on 13 September 2026, a 2-2 draw at Kasımpaşa on 6 September and a 2-1 victory over Trabzonspor on 31 August. They can clearly score freely, though that Kasımpaşa draw was a reminder that they are not entirely comfortable when opponents press them back. Besiktas have gone W-W-W-L-W over the same period, adding a 3-0 win over BB Erzurumspor on 11 September to a Europa League victory against Marseille in early September, though the midweek European fixture may leave some legs heavy by the weekend.
Losing Yıldırım and Sor thins the attack that Orban's running game depends on, leaving Hasi to find a way to recreate the same channel opening from whoever comes in. Besiktas have their own disruptions to manage: Leandro Trossard is out with a tendon injury and Václav Černý is doubtful with a knock, which bites into their width on both flanks. Dušan Vlahović does return from suspension and that matters because Italiano loses a great deal without a proper No.9 to organise around.
Amedspor set up in a 4-2-3-1 built around pressing high and moving quickly in transition. Gift Orban has been excellent early in the season with multiple braces and a hat trick already to his name and the system is designed to get him in behind by freeing up Dia Saba at No.10 and Ermal Krasniqi from the right. One midfielder steps into the press while the other holds, creating the space behind the line that Orban wants to run onto. Besiktas tend to use either a 4-1-4-1 or 4-3-3 depending on the opposition, with Orkun Kökçü running the show from central midfield and a single pivot keeping the centre covered while the wide men pin the full backs and invite runners in behind. Vlahović returning at No.9 gives Italiano the target man he needs to hold up possession and set those runners free.
If Amedspor can catch Besiktas high and spring Orban quickly, they have the pace to punish the line before it resets but if Besiktas get Vlahović involved as a pivot and Kökçü finds space to arrive late, the visitors are capable of hurting Amedspor on the break too. The missing wide options for Besiktas (Trossard out, Černý doubtful) probably push Italiano toward a more central game plan than he would normally prefer, which means Amedspor will face a narrower shape than usual and may find the wide channels more open than expected. There is also a fitness angle: Besiktas came through a midweek Europa League game and Amedspor will look to exploit any tiredness by pressing hard in the opening half hour.
These are Amedspor's first top flight meetings with Besiktas following promotion, so there is almost no usable head to head history. What there is, though, is a results record: Amedspor have already put five past Başakşehir and beaten Trabzonspor, which is not what anyone predicted in August.

Amedspor's delivery from set pieces has been sharp, with Saba and Krasniqi finding Orban well placed to attack second balls consistently. Besiktas tend to defend zonally and that structure will be tested here, particularly at corners where Orban's movement has already caused problems this season. If Amedspor come out pressing from the first whistle and the visitors look sluggish recovering the ball, Orban will get early chances before Besiktas's legs find their rhythm.
We predict Amedspor 0-2 Besiktas. Losing Yıldırım and Sor hurts Amedspor more than Besiktas's absences hurt them. Without those two occupying the channels that Orban's runs depend on, Besiktas's centre backs can defend more narrowly and the transition game that made Amedspor so dangerous loses its main weapon. Vlahović's return is the difference maker: he gives Italiano something to play off, lets Kökçü and the midfield runners arrive late into the box and forces Amedspor to defend more centrally than they would prefer. If Besiktas can absorb Amedspor's press in the opening half hour without conceding, they should score twice in the second half as the home side chase the game.
