How Eyüpspor and Göztepe compare on rating, form and history.

Eyüpspor host Göztepe at the Esenyurt Necmi Kadıoğlu Stadı on 12 October 2026, Matchday 7 of the Trendyol Süper Lig and the stakes could scarcely be higher. Both sides sit in the bottom two on three points from six games (Eyüpspor 18th, Göztepe one place above) and a defeat for either would make an already uncomfortable situation genuinely precarious. Eyüpspor arrive having just been demolished 0-8 by Fenerbahçe, a result that cost the previous manager his job, whereas Göztepe have shown they can score but remain winless after six outings.

Eyüpspor's recent run reads L L L W L, with their only win coming against Alanyaspor and the heaviest of the losses being that Fenerbahçe demolition. Göztepe have gone D D L L L, drawing with Rizespor and Alanyaspor before dropping points against Gaziantep FK and Galatasaray. They can score (that much is clear from the draws) but they cannot find a way to three points, which is a different problem entirely.

Eyüpspor are now managed by Mustafa Dalci, appointed on 29 September 2026 to replace Özhan Pulat and he faces an immediate problem: A. Sabiri is unavailable, a significant loss in attack. The creative burden falls on Michalak without Sabiri, who will need to find pockets of space between Göztepe's lines to set Abdullahi away on the counter. Abdullahi leads the line with Costa alongside Michalak in midfield, while goalkeeper Moldovan stands behind a backline that has conceded 16 goals in six matches, roughly 2.7 per game.

Göztepe remain under Stanimir Stoilov, who has been in charge since November 2023 but his options are badly depleted. Allan Godoi, F. Bayir, G. Bayrakdar, I. Sabra and N. Sonko Sundberg are all unavailable with N. Miroshi doubtful too, stripping out much of his defensive and midfield cover and leaving Stoilov to lean heavily on Juan, Janderson and Henrique to generate anything going forward.

What Dalci inherited is a team that has conceded in almost every game and does not look remotely organised at the back. Early signs point to a 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1, with the priority being to stop shipping goals before worrying about scoring them. Dalci and Stoilov have not previously met in the dugout, which removes any tactical mind games from the equation. Göztepe's 3-4-1-2 relies on wing backs who push high and cross early, with Henrique threading things together behind Juan and Janderson. The absence of several defenders may actually push Stoilov toward a more aggressive approach, accepting exposure at the back to chase a first win, which could suit Eyüpspor if they stay compact and look to release Abdullahi into the space Göztepe's aggressive wing backs leave behind them. If Eyüpspor's double pivot wins the second ball they can counter quickly through Abdullahi but if Göztepe keep their wing backs high and pin them back, the patched up Eyüpspor defence will be stretched.

Eyüpspor hold two wins from eight previous meetings, with Göztepe winning three and the other three ending in draws. Recent Süper Lig encounters have frequently finished 0-0, suggesting both managers prioritise a clean sheet over pressing for a win and Dalci may well want more of the same in his first home fixture. With Eyüpspor's open play output so low, set pieces may be their most reliable route to a goal. Abdullahi gives them a target from dead balls and with Göztepe missing several of their usual centre backs, that combination could matter more than anything produced in open play.

Dalci's defensive reorganisation should limit Göztepe's clearest chances but Juan and Janderson have shown they can score in this division and if Eyüpspor fall behind, dead balls into Abdullahi against a depleted Göztepe back line could be the fastest way back into it. On balance, a 1-1 draw feels right: the head to head history supports a low scoring outcome and neither team can afford the chaos that comes with chasing a winner late on.
