Galatasaray vs Kasımpaşa Prediction: Osimhen Boost Fuels Title Chase in Week 7 Clash

Galatasaray host unbeaten Kasımpaşa in a crucial Süper Lig fixture as they aim to bounce back from defeat and maintain pressure in the title race.

ELO head-to-head

How Galatasaray and Kasımpaşa compare on rating, form and history.

Galatasaray welcome Kasımpaşa to Rams Park on 9 October 2026 for a week 7 Süper Lig fixture where a win keeps them on course for a fifth consecutive championship, whereas dropping points here lets the leader pull further clear, whereas Kasımpaşa arrive in eighth place with 10 points and haven't lost a league game, picking up two wins and four draws on a record built on defensive discipline rather than firepower. The timing makes things harder for the hosts: they're coming off a 0-4 thrashing at Trabzonspor and have a Champions League date with Barcelona just four days away, a combination of wounded pride and forward looking caution that can produce strange performances.

Galatasaray's last five reads W-W-W-W-L, which looks fine until you clock that the loss was a 0-4 capitulation against Trabzonspor, the first sign the back line could be overrun, while Kasımpaşa's W-D-D-W-D run ended in a goalless draw against Konyaspor on 18 September.

There is no meaningful head to head record between Okan Buruk and Emre Belözoğlu to inform team selection decisions but the squad news is where the real asymmetry lies. Buruk is without Wilfried Singo, out with a muscle injury and Lesley Ugochukwu, suspended after a red card last time out. Without Singo's ability to recover defensively behind the press and Ugochukwu's presence as the midfield's primary ball winner, Galatasaray's engine room is noticeably thinner than it needs to be. Victor Osimhen is the compensating factor: back in partial training after a groin injury and expected to feature, his return changes Kasımpaşa's defensive planning from the moment he is on the teamsheet, even if Buruk limits him to 20 minutes.

Kasımpaşa's absentee list is considerably longer, with Kamil Çörekçi out with an Achilles rupture, Mortadha Ben Ouanes and Haris Hajradinovic both injured and Adrian Benedyczak sidelined with a wrist fracture. Belözoğlu, appointed in December 2025, is working through a severely depleted squad.

Galatasaray under Buruk press high, move fast in transition and push their full backs into advanced positions to create overloads. It is an effective system but one that demands bodies in specific roles and losing both Singo and Ugochukwu leaves the space behind the press unprotected, the area most exposed when Galatasaray's full backs push on.

Osimhen's return complicates Kasımpaşa's planning even if he is only getting 20 or 30 minutes. His hold up play draws centre backs out of position and frees the runners either side of him and when Buruk introduces him is a genuine dilemma, with early disruption and preserving him for Barcelona both equally legitimate arguments with no obvious right answer. Kasımpaşa's best hope runs through Kerem Demirbay, who is effective at finding space between the lines and threading passes into dangerous areas. If he can get on the ball in pockets behind Galatasaray's press the visitors can hurt them on the counter, so the central battle is whether Galatasaray can force turnovers before Kasımpaşa reorganise or whether Kasımpaşa's shape holds long enough for Demirbay to do damage.

Galatasaray have historically dominated this fixture at Rams Park, though Kasımpaşa's most recent win came in May 2026. Set pieces could be more decisive than usual given both squads are short of players who would normally contribute at both ends of dead ball situations and the psychological dimension cuts both ways: Galatasaray need a response after Trabzonspor and that urgency is both a motivation and a risk because the frantic energy that produces early goals also produces mistakes, whereas Kasımpaşa's unbeaten run means they arrive without the pressure of poor form weighing on them.

Galatasaray to win 2-1. Kasımpaşa are too short of options in attack to punish Galatasaray's errors consistently enough to take anything from this but their defensive organisation and the gaps left by Singo and Ugochukwu mean the visitors will find at least one opening. Osimhen's presence, even off the bench, gives Buruk an option Kasımpaşa cannot replicate at the other end and the real tension is whether Buruk uses him early enough to matter or protects him for Barcelona.
