Charlton Athletic vs Portsmouth Prediction: Can Addicks Maintain Playoff Push?

Charlton host Portsmouth at The Valley on 12 September 2026, with fifth-placed Charlton sitting on 11 points from six games against a Portsmouth side in 17th on just six, badly needing a result to stop a patchy run from becoming something harder to reverse.

Nathan Jones has been at Charlton since 4 February 2024, when he replaced Michael Appleton, building the side around a high pressing identity that is difficult to play through. John Mousinho has been at Portsmouth since January 2023, guiding them through promotion before a first season back in the second tier that has produced only mixed results.
