That long gap means neither side can draw on relevant tactical memory of the other, which favours the team with a clearer gameplan and in this case that is Nice at home facing a promoted team playing its first top flight game away from home in 16 years.
Set pieces are Nice's clearest route to ending their scoring drought. Hein and Clauss both deliver into the box with quality and, with Nice's open play so muted, dead ball situations may be where this game is decided. Le Mans have conceded heavily from open play but will need to stay alert to those threats too. Their depleted right side, already missing Sidibe's coverage, is the likeliest area Hein's delivery targets and a Nice side desperate for any goal at all will work that channel throughout.
