Across roughly eighteen prior meetings Utrecht lead the series with seven wins to Go Ahead's four and seven draws, which at least tells you neither side tends to run away with it. The set piece picture leans Go Ahead's way too: with Ohio out, Cathline's delivery will need to pick out runners rather than a dominant target and Breum's movement from the edge of the area is exactly the kind of thing that punishes loose defensive shape. Utrecht are desperate, with one point from four games and fifteen conceded making this close to a must win, whereas Go Ahead can afford to be patient and measured away from home and Utrecht cannot afford to defend as high or as loosely as they did against PSV and AZ.
The call here is 0-0. Utrecht's desperate need to stop conceding makes a conservative setup almost certain and losing Jensen and Ohio removes two of the players who might otherwise force a more open game. Breum and Edvardsen have the mobility to cause problems but without Nauber they may keep their centre backs tighter and limit how aggressively the full backs overlap.
