Arouca welcome Marítimo to the Estádio Municipal de Arouca on 29 August 2026 in an early season Primeira Liga fixture where a single point separates the two sides: Arouca fifth or sixth on six points, Marítimo third on seven and still unbeaten. Arouca lead the head to head with five wins from twelve meetings and the Marítimo absences matter more than that record when weighing who holds the advantage here. If Arouca switch off at corners or free kicks they are vulnerable and Marítimo will look to make that count, though the bigger problem for van der Gaag's side remains the isolation of Butzke without Santiago's midfield support.
Arouca 3-1 Marítimo. The home side have the structure, the creative outlets in Barbero and Djouahra and the advantage of facing a Marítimo team missing two important players. Early goals could open this up before Marítimo pull one back through Butzke or Guzzo late on.
