ELO head-to-head

How Al Nassr and Al Kholood compare on rating, form and history.

Al Nassr host Al Kholood in Riyadh on 29 October 2026, matchweek 12 of the Saudi Pro League, sitting second with 25 points from 10 games and a goal difference of +15. They haven't dropped a point at home all season and another win here would pile more pressure on whoever sits above them, whereas Al Kholood arrive ninth or tenth on 12 points with a goal difference of -7. Al Nassr are chasing a title, Al Kholood are trying to stop the bleeding.

Al Nassr have won four of their last five, including a 3-1 victory over Al Faisaly on 23 October. Al Kholood have taken one win from their last five, the most recent a 0-3 defeat away to Al Ettifaq on 24 October that left their back line looking disorganised and their goal difference in further trouble.

Ange Postecoglou took charge on 3 July 2026, replacing Jorge Jesus and has a largely intact squad available. Sultan Al Ghannam is out with a cruciate injury, while Mohamed Simakan and Kingsley Coman are both doubts, which could force changes across the back line and in wider areas, though the attacking shape is unlikely to shift much regardless.

Des Buckingham, in charge at Al Kholood since 14 August 2025, faces selection problems of his own. Edgaras Utkus is out for around three weeks with an ankle injury, while Hamed Al-Shanqiti's availability is uncertain after a recent health issue. Losing Utkus from central defence is a serious blow for a team that has already shipped 18 goals in 11 games.

Postecoglou runs a high pressing, possession heavy system built on fast transitions and vertical ball movement. Ronaldo operates as the main striker, fed by Mane and Joao Felix, whose movement between lines drags defensive structure out of position. The absences of Simakan and Coman might force a more compact back four but Postecoglou tends to prioritise attacking structure regardless of personnel.

Al Kholood tend to sit deep and absorb pressure, which has worked against them this season: without the ball, they struggle to regain it high up the pitch and under sustained pressure their defensive shape has repeatedly come apart. Julien Domingues as the focal point and Iker Kortajarena making runs from deep are their most direct attacking threats but depend heavily on service that Al Kholood's midfield has failed to deliver consistently. With Utkus missing, the central defensive pairing looks even more vulnerable to Ronaldo's movement and at set pieces, where marking organisation will be less reliable, Ronaldo's record of scoring from dead ball situations makes him a genuine threat.

Mane's pace is probably the clearest tactical concern for Buckingham: if Al Kholood push even slightly high, he'll burn them on the counter. Felix dropping into midfield channels will pull trackers out of position and open gaps for runners beyond. On the other side, Domingues is unlikely to see enough of the ball to be a factor, with Al Kholood's midfield likely pinned back for long stretches.

Al Nassr have won three of the last four meetings with one draw and the scorelines, 3-0, 2-0, 3-1 and 3-3, suggest these games tend to produce goals at around 3.8 per match.

Utkus's absence strips Al Kholood of aerial presence and defensive leadership at a moment when they are already short on confidence and personnel and nothing from the 0-3 defeat to Al Ettifaq suggested their attack can trouble a side with a goal difference of +15. A clean sheet for Al Nassr looks the most probable outcome, with Mane and Felix providing the creativity and Ronaldo the finishing to make it count. Al Nassr to win 2-0.
