How Konyaspor and Galatasaray compare on rating, form and history.

Süper Lig Matchweek 10 pits a Konyaspor side sitting 14th with eight points against runaway leaders Galatasaray, who hold a two-point advantage over Amed SK in second. Konyaspor need home points badly, sitting just above the table's lower reaches, while Galatasaray arrive looking to extend a lead built on dropping only four points from nine matches. This is a fixture the visitors will see as close to a free swing: a chance to impose their high tempo game on a side that lives and dies by its defensive shape.

Okan Buruk has been at Galatasaray since July 2022 and his teams have made a habit of picking apart mid table setups through structured build up. İlhan Palut, appointed in February 2026 after replacing Recep Uçar, has Konyaspor organised and deliberate, keeping their shape disciplined regardless of where the ball is.

Konyaspor arrive with some momentum after a 2-0 win over Gençlerbirliği on 25 October, their second clean sheet in recent home fixtures, though that result came off the back of a W-D-D-L-W sequence that doesn't exactly scream consistency. Galatasaray beat Fenerbahçe 2-1 on 26 October in a derby that showed they can dig it out under pressure and they've gone four wins from five across competitions since then.

Konyaspor are without Adil Demirbağ, who is out with a cruciate ligament injury, a loss that puts more pressure on Chidozie Awaziem as the only reliable option in central defence. Galatasaray have their own issues: Abdülkerim Bardakcı is suspended after a red card for violent conduct in the derby and Wilfried Singo is a doubt with a thigh problem that has limited his training, thinning their centre back options heading into the match.

Both sides are expected to line up in 4-2-3-1 formations but that's about where the similarities end. Konyaspor set up in a low block and look to spring counters, while Awaziem has become their main aerial presence at set pieces and Jackson Muleka acts as the target man up front, with Deniz Türüç and Enis Bardhi tasked with finding him on the break.

Galatasaray build through Lucas Torreira and Gabriel Sara in midfield and Victor Osimhen, with around eight goals already this season, remains the main threat. Yunus Akgün and Barış Alper Yılmaz both prefer to drift centrally, which pulls Konyaspor's full backs out of position. If Torreira and Sara win the second ball battles, Galatasaray should generate the sustained pressure needed to test a Konyaspor defence already weakened by Demirbağ's absence. Sara's ability to switch play quickly and Osimhen's movement into half spaces could particularly stress the back line if Konyaspor sit deep and Galatasaray are a consistent set piece threat.

Konyaspor have kept clean sheets recently but the loss of Demirbağ hurts them aerially at both ends and the question is whether their structure holds against the variety of threats Galatasaray can throw at it.

Galatasaray have won around 20 of the last 31 meetings in this fixture, with Buruk's away record against mid table opposition reinforcing that dominance. Konyaspor did beat them 2-0 in the reverse fixture in February 2026, though Galatasaray's points tally since then makes that feel like a different season.

Awaziem has been active at set pieces in recent weeks and Konyaspor's organisation around the penalty area has produced goals from dead balls at this level. Galatasaray's delivery from wide areas is polished and with Osimhen capable of dragging defenders out of position, the threat from corners and free kicks is real. Bardakcı's absence may cause slight adjustments in how they defend at corners and free kicks.

Konyaspor will want to frustrate early and stay compact for as long as possible, hoping a counter materialises. Galatasaray need patience but also urgency when spaces open up and derby fatigue is a genuine factor, though their squad is deep enough to rotate fresh legs into wide areas.

Galatasaray to win 2-0, with Torreira and Sara controlling the midfield in a way that gradually suffocates whatever Konyaspor try to build. Konyaspor's structure should limit Galatasaray to moments rather than sustained waves but those moments will likely be enough.
